2 papers

Good morning everyone. Today over at the Polkadoodles challenge blog we have some mid challenge inspiration for you. The challenge set last week was to use more than two papers and here is my make.

I've used papers and embellies form one of my fave collections, Picknix 1. I've used the Home Grown bundle for this, or you can buy the whole collection here, which of course is better value as you get 3 kits for less than the price of 2.

Back to School

Good morning and Happy
Did you notice our posting time has changed? Well we realised that our Australian and New Zealand crafters weren't getting much time to use our fabulous discount code with the mahoosive time difference. So to try and make it fairer we now got live at midnight so everyone has more of a chance to use the code, as it only lasts for 24 hours. So don't forget to pop over to the Digi Choosday blog to grab your code for today after you've finished here.
Now onto this weeks challenge. For you it is of course Anything Goes, but should you wish to follow our challenge it is Back To School and here is my make, or makes.

This started out life as a plain Kraft chipboard. I used my go to collection for this make which of course is the fabulous Picknix 1 collection. You can also get this on CD should you wish HERE. Or in separate smaller collections HERE. So I started by covering the edges of the board with white Gesso before trimming the paper and gluing in place. I then brushed some Gesso over the edges of the paper and added some faux stitching after it had dried. I then used the little bubble stamp from the Celebrations Stamp set. I then cut out some letters, numbers and an apple and glued them on. I then added some of my own text over the blackboard embellie. Finally I added some tape measure ribbon along the bottom with loops to hold some pens, pencils etc. And a piece as a further something.
Here is the board without the pens in.
I then also decided to make a card to match this so then printed out another apple embellie but larger to use as a topper.

Birthday pressie

Today is a sad day for me as it is one year since my best friend from school was taken from us too soon :'( So with this in mind I planned to make my mums birthday present today to keep me occupied, and I am really pleased with how it has turned out. Here it is:
The paper and embellishments are from both of the Picknix CD's from Polka Doodles. I've run a Versamark Inkpad around the edges of the name, the heart and the frame and then gone over it with the Bronze - Metallic Pan Pastel to give an aged effect. I've also added some lace and lots of buttons from my stash. I tend to be quite frugal where buttons are concerned but thought my adorable little Great Nephew and my Mum were worth using them for!  The frame was a cheap cardboard one I got at a craft show earlier in the year. I bought 4 of these and now wish I'd bought loads more! lol

Been a while

Hello blogland, it's been a while since I blogged as I have been in Spain since the 3rd July. We went over to suprise my friends daughter as she was going over to spend her 18th birthday with her Dad, her Aunt and Gran who live over there. She had no idea we were going so she was well chuffed when we popped out from behind a wall and surprised her! Her gran has her own pool in her garden so we did a pool party for Alicia, it was a great day. I made her a banner using some My Craft Studio artwork.

I also had the task of making her a birthday cake as she loves my triple chocolate cake!
I can tell you it was no easy feat baking that cake in that heat! It was over 50 degrees while I was slaving away over it! I kind of gave up in the end with the covering, there was no way of getting it smooth. And of course, no one had a cake tin so I had to compromise. I had to take over my baking tins and scales as no one over there bakes!
Anyway, she loved the cake and her party.
I think the look on her face says it all! She is an adorable girl and is growing into an amazing adult.
She is mad on all things 50's, especially Marylin Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. These are some of the pressies we gave her, a Marylin towel and lighter, a bottle of bubbly and a bottle of Jack Daniels all in a Marylin gift bag. We are also paying for her a tattoo of a 50's pin up girl doing when she is ready for it. I'm the one holding the towel up and that's my hubby at the side of me, thankfully you can't see what he is doing! Cheeky boy!
This is the card I made her:
The papers are from Polka Doodles, and the image is from Charmed Cards and Crafts.
The inside of the card is done in the style of a book using elements from the Polka Doodles Picnix CD.
Luckily it survived the journey over there in my suitcase!
Well, that's it for today, and a long post it is!
Come back tomorrow as I'll be posting something special from My Craft Studio that I am currently trying out for them! See you then xx

Polka Doodles card

Hello all from a dark dingy day here in Leeds, it was supposed to be cracking the flags today, but we have rain instead! I was hoping to get a few hours in the garden today as well! Oh well.
I've been playing with the new Polka Doodles Picknix CD again and have come up with this card
I just love these papers, they are sooo girly and lush. I've added a few Marriane die cuts and used a Martha Stewart border punch. I think my wide polka dot ribbon goes lovely with these papers. I've also slightly distressed the white images with the Tim Holtz Spun Sugar distress ink. The image is from Polka Doodles Candy Doodles CD.
Fingers crossed the sun come out a bit later on!
