It's Summer time!

Good morning and happy Choosday everyone. Did you enjoy all the birthday celebrations over at Digi Choosday and Polkadoodles? Did you manage to grab some of those fab mixed up images that our teams came up with, and what about the amazing discount codes that were on offer? There was some real bargains to be had wasn't there! Well after the celebrations us at Digi Choosday are still buzzing and all set for Summer to arrive, so for this weeks challenge we want to see all your Summery makes. Don't forget it is also
So hope over to the blog when you're finished here and grab yourself today's code. And don't forget to check out my teamies makes while you're there.
Now here is my make for this week.
This is one of the colouring pages from the Colour Therapy 2, Inspiring Foliage downloadable colouring book. I've used Sakura Glaze pens to colour it in and it is so shiny, the photo doesn't do it justice at all, it's really hard to capture the glaze.

Our Birthday continues.

Good morning everyone. As you'll know from previous posts Polkadoodles is 7 years old this week so we are celebrating across all of our challenge blogs. So here is my make for the Polkadoodles challenge blog.
I've used the stamps from the fabulous Lemonade Fizz collection which you can order HERE. It does keep selling out as it's been so popular so you'll have to be quick off the mark to get an order in while you can. To start with I used some distress inks to make the background and sprinkled some water on to take some colour out and leave some dots. Then I stamped and coloured up lots of petals, leaves and shapes. I coloured them once again with my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolour paints. Then I cut all the elements out by hand and arranged the petals and leaves over some I had stamped direct to the card. I shaped the leaves before sticking them down to give them some dimension. I then stamped a border and a sentiment and used the new metallic Gansai Tambi paints, which I have to say are LUSH!
Here is a close up of the petals and dragonflies I made from some of the petals. I finished it off but putting some gems in the centres. These really remind me of Rowntrees Fruit Pastels lol.
Now don't forget to go and check out my teamies birthday makes.

Even more Birthday celebrations!

Hello once again, yes I'm back with even more birthday celebrations for Polkadoodles today. As well as creating our own merged images we were also given someone elses merged images to use. We weren't told who had created them to keep it as a surprise for us, and they weren't told as a surprise for them! So here is the mash up I was given.
The girl image is the cute Amelia Rose which you can get HERE. The arch seat is from one of my fave collections which is Rose Budd and you can get that HERE on download and HERE on CD. The paper and embellies I have used are from the Little Kingdom collection. And the tree is from the ever so cute Sugarplum Daisy CD.

More celebrations

Hello again! As it's our 7th Birthday we are continuing our celebrations with extra makes for you.

As this anniversary is normally called the "7 year itch", the Polka Doodles team have embraced the prickly feeling by scratching that itch and mixing/scratching up some new images ... get the pun? Corny we know but the team have had great fun. So to embrace the “itchy scratch” the Polka Doodles team have thrown caution to the wind and “scratched up” a different kind of birthday celebration.

The birthday celebrations will be running for 2 weeks and each day someone from the Polka Doodles team will be sharing their “mixed/scratched up” image. It’s been all hush hush and secret squirrel too as no one knows who has been busy creating what and when they will be revealing their image... so the Polka Doodles team get to join in the fun too. To add an extra layer of itchy fun, everyone has also been colouring up the new “scratched/mixed up” images, (still not knowing who designed them) and they will be sharing via their blogs and on FaceBook.
We really have scratched things up ... new merged images, no one knows who created what and no one knows when they’ll be sharing them ...!

Please do take the opportunity to visit the Polka Doodles team and see their new digi images because you will find a discount code (or two) along your way that you can use in the Polka Doodles shop

As part of our birthday celebrations we were asked to merge to images to use for a challenge and this is what I decided to go with.

To create this.
I used the absolutely adorable Serenity Princess image. You can buy her on her own HERE or as part of the full collection HERE, which is an amazing price for what you get. I also used papers and a sentiment from the same collection. I then used the door from the Magic Garden collection which you can buy HERE, the mushrooms and flowers are also from the same collection. The images are coloured with the Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolour paints, apart from the skin for which I used Copics for a change.

It's our Birthday!!!

Good morning and Happy Choosday everyone. Today is Polkadoodles 7th Birthday, and as we are all a part of the same family we are also celebrating with them. So with that in mind our challenge this week is Birthday Celebrations, we are making this challenge a two week one as we have some more fab things to show you over the coming two weeks. Here is my make for this challenge.

I have used the bird house digi from the fab Winnie Fruit Punch download collection.
I printed it out a few times to decoupage bits of it. I coloured it with my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolour paints. There paints are working so well with all our Polkadoodles products, and are great for new colourers to use and it doesn't matter if it's not perfect.
Here is a close up of the layers.
Now don't forget seeing as it's Tuesday, that mean that it is also
So pop over to the blog for todays discount, and don't forget to check out my teamies makes as well. We also have two new teamies this week, so go and get to know them too!

Anything But Square

It's Tuesday again already which means it's
So time for a new challenge and a new discount code!
Here is my make for this weeks challenge which is "Anything But Square"
It's one of those 50p wooden hearts again from Matalan, told you I'd bought loads of them lol
Anyway I've used the new Little Kingdom CD. I've glued a background paper onto the heart, distressed it a little bit and added a stitch line around the edges. I've then printed the home word art and mounted it on 3D foam. I've added a little Wink of Stella to the word. Then I sat and cut lots and lots of flowers out, layered them up with some leaves and glued around the edge. Finally I cut some butterflies out, shaped them and glued them in place.

Things with wings.

Good morning everyone, I'm here today with my latest make for the Polkadoodles Challenge Blog. This week we have a new challenge for you and it is "Things With Wings" and here is my make.
I've used images from the fab new Magic Garden CD. I've used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolour paints to colour them and the background in. I've printed the pots and toadstools a few times and decoupaged them up. The dragonflies are also cut separate and shaped and raised to give them a 3D effect. I've used a fine liner to draw the lines around the edge, layered it onto black card and used some raffia to finish it off.

Use some Kraft Card

Good morning and Happy Choosday everyone, yes it's
again already. And I'm a year older, where does the time go, this time next year I'll be 50, wow, I swear it's only a couple of years since I was 21 lol
Anyhoo, onto today's challenge from the Digi Choosday blog. This week we challenge you to use some Kraft card. Now if you are a regular follower of mine you will know I love Kraft card and use it a lot. So this seemed the perfect challenge for me to do a tutorial. I'm going to show you how to extend a border die, and show you how I put the whole card together. So this post if picture heavy so you may want to grab a cuppa while you're looking and reading.
This is what I am going to show you how to make.

So to start with choose what you are going to use on your card, so your image, your papers and card layers. Use your border die on the piece of card you want it on. As you can see the die isn't long enough for what I want so I need to extend it.
To do this I lay the die on it's back and slide the card over it until I feel it "lock" into the design.
Carefully hold in place, turn over and tape into place so it doesn't slip in the die cutter.
Run through your machine and there you have it, it's as easy as that. If you don't want to ruin your piece of card if it's the first time you're trying this, try it with copier paper a few times first.
Then stick down your designer paper leaving the border showing.
So now I have all the layers I need, the extended border piece and my coloured image. The cute image is Smile from the adorable Sticks and Bones collection. You can get the image HERE on her own, or you can get the full collection HERE.
Because I'm using Kraft card I decided it also called for some distressing of the papers. You can use whatever you like to do this with, you can use a metal file or an emery paper one.
Here are all the edges distressed.
I wanted the give them a more aged look as well so instead of the usual distress inks I decided to use some Gesso. I just put a bit on my finger and rubbed it around the edges of all the card and paper layers.
If you don't like getting messy you can use a brush if you like.
Then with a fine liner pen I added my usual scribbled lines around everything. Something else I love and have done for years lol
Then stick everything in place and you have your card.
I have added a few die cuts, a message, some pearls, some lace and some raffia tied in a bow to finish it off.
