Birthday pressie

Today is a sad day for me as it is one year since my best friend from school was taken from us too soon :'( So with this in mind I planned to make my mums birthday present today to keep me occupied, and I am really pleased with how it has turned out. Here it is:
The paper and embellishments are from both of the Picknix CD's from Polka Doodles. I've run a Versamark Inkpad around the edges of the name, the heart and the frame and then gone over it with the Bronze - Metallic Pan Pastel to give an aged effect. I've also added some lace and lots of buttons from my stash. I tend to be quite frugal where buttons are concerned but thought my adorable little Great Nephew and my Mum were worth using them for!  The frame was a cheap cardboard one I got at a craft show earlier in the year. I bought 4 of these and now wish I'd bought loads more! lol

Digi Choosday at Polka Doodles challenge week 5

It's Tuesday again already! Where does time go? The challenge over at Digi Choosday this week is "All about craft" As I have a friend who had a birthday this month this was a great challenge for me, and here is the card.
The image is called Emma Canning To Die For and is available as an instant download so you can get crafting straight away! She is coloured with Graph 'It Markers. The papers are from the fabulous Sugarplum Daisy CD-Rom. I've added rolled roses using the same papers and some die cuts. The sentiment ticket is also from the same CD.

Polka Doodles Tutorial week 46

Hi everyone, it's my turn to do the weekly tutorial over at Polka Doodles, and this week I'm going to show you how to make a shaped card if you don't have any dies or cutting machines to use.
With it being close to Christmas I have chosen to make a Christmas stocking card.

The image, papers and embellishments are from the fabulous A Home for Christmas CD Collection.
To start with I chose a paper I wanted to use and then searched the internet for a free stocking template in png format. The png format is just a line drawing with no white background. I put the paper into a graphic program, you could use MS Word if you don't have a graphic program, and then added the stocking template over the top.

I then chose a coordinating paper and the embellishments I wanted to use. I cropped the paper down to a thin strip to use on the top of the stocking.

I then printed all these out. Cut around the stocking shape and put the thin strip of paper over the top of the stocking and cut to size.

Then cut out the rest of the images.

I cut the sentiments and tickets down to size then used a distress ink around the edges of them all and the stocking. Then use a white pen to add faux stitching around them all. This gives the effect of the stocking being more realistic.

Then decide where you want to put all your images and glue in place.

Why not have a go at making one, they would make a great card for a male, which we all know are difficult to do!

Digi Choosday at Polka Doodles challenge week 4

It's that time of week again and here I am with my DT card for today. The theme this week is Celebration and here is my card.
The image is called Fredericka Debutante Digistamp  and is coloured with my Graph 'It markers. The papers are from the Fredericka - Mini CD collection. I created the sentiment myself in MS Word. I've added a few handmade rolled roses using the same papers and then die cuts and a large stem rose.

Digi Choosday at PD Challenge week 4

It's time for another Digi Choosday challenge over at Polka Doodles and this week the challenge is to use Autumn colours. Here is my card.

The image I have used is the Emma Canning Under The Weather Digital Stamp  which is an instant download so no waiting to play, how fab is that!
I have coloured the image with my Graph' It Markers and the papers are from the Pretty Tuff CD Rom! Who would have thought you could use a male orientated product to create a female card? That's how versatile the Polka Doodles CD's are! I have made the paper roses by cutting a circle out and then cutting it into a spiral and rolling it. I have also added some spiders web and flourishes. Originally the bottom right of the card had more flowers on and a smaller sentiment, and I wanted to add some faux pearls with Cosmic Shimmer. Well, here is what happened!

The end of the bottle was blocked and when I squeezed it the end came off and there was Cosmic shimmer everywhere! So to rescue the card I had to add a large sentiment on a large circle background to hide the mess!

Polka Doodles challenge week 44

The challenge over at Polka Doodles this week is to make or decorate a box for Christmas using the A Home for Christmas CD Collection. Here is my creation.

I printed out one of the papers onto card and cut the box out on my Cameo. I used a cream linen card to give it more of an aged look. I used a distress ink around the edges and corners. I also printed out all the embellishments onto the same cream linen card which I also cut out on my Cameo, of course you could cut them out by hand if you wish. I then made a tag out of the same card and added a sentiment and layered up one of the Poinsettias from the CD.
